FORT KNOX BIG GAME GREED March 31 / April 1, 2012
Here are the new updates for the 2012 Playing Year. Also make sure you pre-register (www.fortknoxpaintball.com) for our first game of the season at Fort Knox called "Greed." We will be playing on the "Green" side as one of our Allied Teams... Op4 leader Bad Karma is the Commander for the Green side. JEDI will be the O.S.U. leader for Saturday and SHEPHERD will be the Sunday leader. Please see them for squad placement. Please email SHEP (shepherd@omegastryke.org) which day you will be playing (Sat. or Sun.)...so we can get an idea for squads. Don't forget to bring a lawn chair, your lunch and something to drink.

2012 is a year for recruitment for the Omega Stryke Unit. Please visit http://omegastryke.org/doc/osu2012flyer.pdf to print out a 2012 promotional flyer to give to your friends, family and co-workers to look at joining the O.S.U.!!! We need to get others hyped about joining the team so instead of having a team meeting to start off the year we will have a meeting at the end of the year. Lets just get playing!!!
2012 Schedule
March 31, April 1st Fort Knox "Greed"
Sunday April 15 1-5pm (tentative)
Playing in Woods against police officers and firemen.
June 2nd & 3rd Badlandz "Call of Duty"
July 21, 22 Fort Knox "Empires"
Sept 8-9 Fort Knox Cowboys & Aliens
Nov. 3-4 Fort Knox Mobsters
Dec ? Team Meeting (Date & Location TBA)
UPDATES & CHANGES in O.S.U. for 2012
1) NO DUES or new member registration fee. Waived for this year only 2012! Donations will be accepted to help cover costs only! No T-Shirts. Remaining T-shirts will be sold to new players signing up. We will review at a later date if we need to order more shirts.

2) RANKS 4-New Higher Ranks added (Staff Sergeant, Sergeant 1st Class, Master Sergeant, Lieutenant)..see "By-Laws" section on our website.

3) 2-Way Radios. (Are NOT required but STRONGLY recommended). The O.S.U. has found that communication on the field is VERY important, and we recommend that each player on the O.S.U. has their own personal com unit. You may also want to consider getting an ear receiver with mic as an option. A recommended unit can be found on the "By-Laws" section on our website. We maybe possibly be selling off our team com units at a discounted price. If this happens it will be by a first come first serve basis. More information to follow shortly if this happens!

4) COSTS We are going to try and keep costs down this year and focus on having fun and trying to rebuild the team. This is a year for recruitment if the O.S.U. is to continue. There will be no uniform change but we may discuss that at the team meeting in December for next year! One thing that has changed is you are no longer required to wear or purchase "black" boots. Tennis shoes and cleats are NOT recommended. Also we have loosened up on the marker requirements only encouraging Milsim markers. We understand in this economy that may not be possible.

5) GENERAL INFORMATION Will continue to have members playing on both Saturdays and Sundays for Big Games. At least one leader will be present on each day. See the leader in charge to be placed in a squad. Higher ranking officers will assume command of a squad. Please note we plan to have at least one game in the woods (like the old "Theaker Woods" days) and play against some of SLOOSHYS buddies (cops and firemen). This would be a GREAT recruiting event. Also we have at least 6 new players coming out for "Greed" on Sunday. So things are looking good for the 2012 playing year. We have also added a game at Badlandz. Even though we have heard rumors of it not being a good field to play on we have yet to play there as a team. Badlandz is a BYOP playing field and we thought we would give it a try to see if it can be another alternative field to play at other than Fort Knox (which of course is our favorite field). Blast Camp, Scherwood Forest, Fox, and CPX Sports are still not including because of the high playing costs and not being a BYOP fields.

6) PROMOTIONS - Please remember all team members who are promoted are required to purchase and upgrade their uniforms themselves with the OD subdued Army Rank Insignia patch. These can be purchased from http://www.iragreen.com/view/208/

TRIGGER- Sergeant
BOOMER- Sergeant
HANS - Staff Sergeant
ODD BALL- Sergeant
TWINKIE - Staff Sergeant
SQUIRREL - Sergeant
ACE - Corporal
HOLLYWOOD - Sergeant
HIGH TOWER - Staff Sergeant
SHAMMAH - Corporal

7) TEAM MEMBER UPDATE- Please welcome John Kooi (HEMI) and Rebecca Kooi (BARBIE) to the team as our new Privates. John is SHEPS brother and Rebecca is his niece. We also want to let you know that both David Zimmerman (SHAMMAH) and Jake Miller (TWINKIE) will only be playing with us for a limited time as they will be both going off to boot camp this summer. We wish them the very best! We also want to welcome Zach Arnold, Jose Valerio, and Daniel Wolowiec (and their friends) who are playing with us on Sunday April 1st to try out playing with the OSU. We hope you have a great experience and

8) RESERVES REMINDER- We believe once O.S.U. Soldier... ALWAYS O.S.U. Soldier. The "RESERVE" Soldier's are "Non-Active Duty" members who played paintball on the O.S.U. team previously but are not able to play on a regular basis due to other activities (i.e. military service, college, life-in-general, etc.) We encourage the "Reserve" Soldiers to join us at events when they can! The "Reserve" players will either be placed in a fire-team by a Commanding Officer, or if we have enough reserve players they will become a fire-team of themselves for the event they are participating in. Reserve Soldiers will also hold the rank they had when they went into the "Reserve Status." It is also possible for a "Reserve" Soldier to earn a higher rank, but only if they qualify. We do request (but not require) that "Reserve" Soldiers also wear the standard O.S.U. uniform whenever possible during visiting games and events...so save your uniform and be ready to dust off your marker when you can!
If you are TOTALLY unable to play and want to sell your gear please let us know what you have and what you want for it and I am sure we will be able to find someone who might want to purchase your gear.

FREE WINTER GAME NEXT WEEKEND 1/30/11

http://omegastryke.org/event/themill.jpg
Just to break the winter cold we have a spur of the minute

FREE paintball game at a place called "The Mill." It is an old

abandoned mill in Hammond Indiana that is owned by The

National Police Paintball Organization. Every year they have

a paintball game called "Operation Knightfall" which they will

be hosting again this March (and it is NOT a night game).

They have invited us to play with them Next Sunday 1/30/11

from 10am - 5pm so we will have a chance to play the site

and experience the layout. Believe me this is as urban as it

gets (see the pictures below). I have included the details

below but feel free to call me on my cell phone with ANY

questions (219) 629-0856 (Doug Van Der Weide [aka. SHEPHERD])

#1) This event is FREE (No Cost)

#2) This is a bring your own paint and air event. Since it is

winter we are recommend using Winter (Polar) paintballs and

Air (not C02 which will ruin your gun).

#3) They will have warming stations but dress WARM!

#4) Arrive No later than 10am. Game will start around 11am and

end around 4-5pm. Players must provide their own transportation.

#5) Bring a friend...maybe someone interested in the O.S.U.

6th-8th grade players will be able to participate but MUST have

a guardian with them who will be responsible for them.

#6) Address: 1740 Summer Street Hammond, IN. 46327
Directions: Its the intersection of Summer St. & Hump Road.

Located west of Indianapolis Blvd. This address does come up on Google Earth!

New OSU Advertising Web Site Banner
With PIX and FLIX creating a New and Improved O.S.U. Promo Video from the Theaker Woods Scenario (please give them a couple of months to do so). I thought I had better step up our advertising web site banner. You can currently find this banner on our "Allies" & "Sponser" pages of our website, and you can also find it on http://www.scenariolinks.com Our team has moved up ranking on the "Top Scenario Paintball Team" list to rank #30!!! Also last month we had a record amount of web site hits to our site... 745 unique visitors, 1,366 visits, and 52,038 hits to our site!!!

"NIGHT RAID! - Saturday August 14, 2010 | 7pm- Midnight"
NOTE: THIS IS NOT A BRING YOUR OWN PAINT EVENT!!!

Just so everyone knows...registrations are closed for this event through OSU. You can still play by going to BLAST CAMP the day of the event and paying them directly. If you registered but did NOT order paint, please note you can NOT bring your own. You will need to purchase paint from BLAST CAMP. Yes, even the "White Fill" that we used at THEAKER WOODS can NOT be used to play at Night Raid. Gates open at 7pm and we recommend ALL O.S.U. team members who are playing to arrive at this time. This way we can distribute paint, gear-up, chrono, and set-up our fire-teams.

INSTRUCTIONS & NIGHT RAID GAMES!
Below are the instructions and games scheduled for the August 14, 2010 NIGHT RAID...
All players will be divided into two teams RED and BLUE. Each player will have a team colored glowstick which must remain in sight. Referees will have orange glowsticks. Each overall team will have smaller teams of 10-12 that will play games to represent larger team. A Referee will escort each set of teams to the “Batters Box” on the base, explain each scenario and answer questions. Those teams will then watch the game prior to theirs. Teams will play the 5 minute games explained below then return to registration. All lights will go Red or Blue to indicate the winner of a game and signal the end of that game. We’ll play these games in the order they are listed below. Push lights will be used as "Launch buttons" A “Dead box” area will be designated on the field "Elimination"

Starting Points: Opposite ends of the Courtyard (white double barrels)

Boundaries: North: Tree line, South: Fence, East & West: Do not enter or pass buildings.

Objective: Eliminate all opposing players within the time limit (5 minutes)

----------------------------------------------

"Arms Race/Launch Button"

Starting Points: Opposite ends of the Courtyard (white double barrels)

Boundaries: North: Tree line, South: Fence, East & West: Do not enter or pass buildings.

Objective: Launch your missile before the opposing team can launch theirs.

Launch buttons will be illuminated, and are located in the center of the field. First team to press their team colored launch button wins the match.

----------------------------------------------

"Conquest"

Starting Points: Opposite ends of the Courtyard (white double barrels)

Boundaries: North: Tree line, South: Fence, East: Do no enter or pass Building One, West: Illuminated portion of Building Two is in play. (Marked with lights and glow sticks)

Flag Stations : Flag stations will be located on various, and random, parts of the playing field. Flag stations are “Open” when they are illuminated. A station is “Closed” when light is off.

Objective: To capture “Open” flag stations. Whichever team controls a flag station when it is “Closed” will earn ONE point. The game is a race to 3. The “closings” will be timed.

Reincarnation: When a player is eliminated, that player will return to the starting point and wait. The entire field will flash green, signaling eliminated players to rejoin the game. These reincarnations are random. If a player wishes to leave the game for good, then that player may enter the “Dead Box” area.

-----------------------------------------------

"Bomb Squad"

Starting Points: Opposite ends of the courtyard (White Double Barrels)

Boundaries: North: Tree line, South: Fence, East: Do no enter or pass Building One, West: Illuminated portion of Building Two is in play. (Marked with lights and glow sticks)

“The Bomb” will be placed in the middle of the field. The location of “The Bomb” will be illuminated at the start of the game, and then every two minutes until the game is over.

Objective: Capture “The Bomb” and place it in the opposing team’s starting point to win.

Reincarnation: When a player is eliminated, that player will return to the starting point and wait. The entire field will flash green, signaling eliminated players to rejoin the game. These reincarnations are random. If a player wishes to leave the game for good, then that player may enter the “Dead Box” area.

----------------------------------------------------

"Jail Break"

Starting Points: Opposite ends of the courtyard (White Double Barrels)

Boundaries: North: Tree line, South: Fence, East: Do no enter or pass Building One, West: Illuminated portion of Building Two is in play. (Marked with lights and glow sticks)

This game will be explained in the “Batter’s Box,” and the playing field will be left dark. For this game one team will be designated as the “Guard” team, and one team will be the “Felon” team. A dummy will be placed in an undisclosed location on the field prior to the game. This prop will be illuminated just seconds before the game starts. “Launch buttons” will be placed at each starting point. These buttons will either end the escape by locking down the prison (felons starting point button), or disable all prison security systems (guards starting point button).

Objectives:

Felons- escape with the prisoner (dummy) by escorting him to the opposing teams starting point and turning off the prison security system (activate launch button).

Guards- Prevent the escape of the prisoners by restoring order and locking down the prison (activate launch button on Felon starting point)

Reincarnation: When a player is eliminated, that player will return to the starting point and wait. The entire field will flash green, signaling eliminated players to rejoin the game. These reincarnations are random. If a player wishes to leave the game for good, then that player may enter the “Dead Box” area.

Tactical Training

Our tactical training for 2010 is officially over. It is recommended that ALL O.S.U. team members visit our "Top Secret" area to review these basic training tactics. The O.S.U. has also posted pictures of this past training event in our "Media Area" of our website. I want to personally thank Jack (PIX) and Wylan (FLIX) for taking our team, and tactical training pictures. They did a FANTASTIC JOB!!!

OMEGA STRYKE UNIT NEWSLETTER   |    2010 Issue No. 1

Welcome to the O.S.U.

Major Paul Perrin and the Omega Stryke Unit have just completed their very first "deployment" on January 22, 2010.  Major Perrin known as AON (All or Nothing), has issued a briefing of our first meeting. This briefing is available to ALL in the Omega Stryke Unit. To read AON's letter to the team you must go to H.Q. (headquarters) and enter the "Top Secret" area of our web site. If you are unsure of the username and password, please contact Corporal SHEPHERD. See you at our next deployement!

SOME IMPORTANT UPDATES    1/31/10

1) BDU's / Patches:  Please note when you signed up you will receive a T-shirt, sponsor discounts, and a patch set. This patch set includes the Unit Patch, Unit Name Tape, your Call Sign Name Tape, and the American Flag (all subdued). What it does NOT include is your "rank insignia" which you need to purchase yourself. The "rank insignia" is to be subdued or o.d. (olive drab), and no other form is allowed (like digi-camo etc). A recommended place to purchase is www.iragreeen.com. Your patches can be either stiched or Velcro type. Please make sure that you are not purchasing the collar insignia which typically comes in pairs. They are much smaller than the insignia that is typically for front and center jacket placement. Why is this so important...well, our next deployment (meeting) on Feb. 19th, 2010 (at Bethel Church) will include taking pictures for our new website. Our website is used to help promote and build-up our sponser-ship for this team. This means you need to have your BDU's and patches on by this time. We have put on our "By-laws page" of the website illustrations of the proper placement of your patches... http://www.omegastryke.org/bylaws.htm If you have yet to purchase your BDU's there are several different places to purchase, just make sure there will be enough time to receive them with shipping ... check...www.airsoft-club.com,  www.bdu.com. You can also go to our "Links page" for more resources... http://www.omegastryke.org/links.htm

2) Team Roster page: For those who have NOT yet sent their information for the team roster page, please fill out the web form and complete your information so I can finish this page. Relating to pictures...relating to photos on this page we will be taking photos on the 19th. The pics that are up there are temporary only and will be removed or put into a separate area. If you would like to submit any photo's (other than what is taken on Feb 19th) you will need to black out the background in a program (like paint). Let me stress the word YOU need to black it out. Please get this information to SHEPHERD.

3) Top Secret Area: The top secret area of the website on the Headquarters (H.Q.) homepage is still under construction. Please note I am going to give you the user name and password but you WILL NOT be able to open any files for a while. We will let you know when their are files to open. Please keep the user name and password private. Both username and password are case sensitive with no breaks in the letters.

User name: (contact SHEPHERD for username)
Password: (contact SHEPHERD for password)

This are will be used to get information to the unit that we don't want available to anyone else. This means the information is "top secret" and can not be shared with anyone except unit members.

4) Updated Web pages: You will find that several web pages have been updated.

          a) Team Page- Almost all of the information on your unit team members have been updated. Please try and take the time out to memorize your team members "call-sign names."

          b) Awards - Note for those who participated in Fort Knox Paintball Big Event last November...your award is available for printing out. You may have not even realized that you won for the most valuable team.

          c) Schedule- Please note the information on our first mission deployment scheduled for March 27, 2010 is on our "schedule page." We will try and get information put up as quickly as possible. So you can be informed of the detail but also so you can save up for the event.

          d) By-Laws - This page is in process. You will find that we have added illustrations to show where our patches are required to go. We will also be separating the by-laws and agreement & consent forms. The plans are to have the by-laws as and independent print off, and the agreement & consent forms will be merged with the web form giving us one set of forms to fill out to join this unit. This information should be completed within the next week.
